A Taper Lock Pulley is a precision-engineered belt pulley designed to mount rigidly onto a drive shaft using a split conical bushing known as a Taper Lock Bush. The outer surface of the bushing is tapered to match the internal taper of the pulley hub.

When the high-tensile socket screws are tightened, the tapered bushing is forced into the pulley hub, causing the split bush to contract uniformly and clamp down on the shaft with immense pressure. This creates a true shrink-fit connection without requiring specialized heating tools or custom reboring.

Our taper lock pulleys are cast using high-grade close-grained Grey Cast Iron (IS 210 Grade FG 200 / FG 260), providing exceptional wear resistance and vibration absorption. Spheroidal graphite ductile iron or machined steel is utilized for severe shock-load conditions.

All pulleys conform strictly to ISO 4183, DIN 2211, and IS 3142 standards, machined on CNC lathes, and dynamically balanced to ISO 1940 Grade G 6.3 to ensure smooth, high-speed power transmission.

Installation:

1. Clean the shaft, bore, and outer taper of the bush. Ensure all contact surfaces are clean and free of oil.
2. Insert the bushing into the pulley hub, matching the unthreaded half-holes of the bush with the threaded holes of the hub.
3. Lightly oil the threads of the socket grub screws and thread them into place. Slide the entire unit onto the shaft.
4. Tighten the screws progressively and alternately using a torque wrench until the specified tightening torque is achieved.

Removal: Remove all screws, insert one or two into the threaded jacking holes in the bush, and tighten alternately until the bush breaks loose from the hub taper and slides freely off the shaft.
